The heart of The Mustard Seed Street Church beats because of active and faithful volunteers. Our numerous programs exist because people like you care enough to get involved. We invite you to partner with us by volunteering in one of these many programs!
Use your hands, heart, and talent to make a difference in the lives of those who need it most. If you’re unsure as to where you want to help out, that’s okay! We have a number of ministries that thrive off of people like you. We’d be more than glad to help you figure out where you fit in. The first steps of becoming a volunteer are the application form and joining us on a tour to learn where you would fit in. So fill out a volunteer application form and send it to firstname.lastname@example.org or mail it in and then join us on a tour. Please note, we do require a minimum age of 16 to volunteer.
The next upcoming tours will be held on:
- Saturday, August 20th at 10:00 am
- Wednesday, September 7th at 4:30 pm
- Saturday, September 24th at 10:00 am

Why I Volunteer
“I’ve volunteered at various soup kitchens and shelters over the years. While many offer food to the hungry and clothes to the naked, the barriers between “haves” and “have-nots” are seldom crossed. The “haves” give, the “have-nots” receive. Everyone leaves with some need satisfied, but people remain divided into two camps. At the Mustard Seed, I’ve encountered something much different—everyone gives, be it resources, time, a listening ear, a story over coffee, or simply a smile. I don’t feel like a volunteer so much as a welcomed guest into a community where little is expected and much is given. I feel privileged to learn from people who are so passionate about being Christ’s hands and feet in the inner city, and now come just as ready to be enriched as I do to serve others.”
– Nicole Hildebrand, 23, Outreach Volunteer
“At the Mustard Seed clients, staff members and volunteers work together to create a safe, caring, sustainable community that is committed to social justice projects. As a volunteer I have been challenged, humbled and excited by the relationships I have formed with clients, volunteers and staff. What keeps me coming back to the Mustard Seed is the variety of ways in which I can engage. Some nights I serve meals, other nights I wash dishes, or even play music with other community members. The variety of ways to engage make every night different. I also value events at the Mustard Seed like the Street Café where a diverse group of people come together to serve and eat a meal.
Through volunteering I have been given the opportunity to gain perspective and insight into the impact poverty and oppression have on our most vulnerable populations here in Victoria. I would recommend spending time volunteering at the Mustard Seed to anyone excited about making a difference or getting involved with social justice initiatives.”
