Life at the Farm

The routine at Hope Farm revolves around a structure of Counseling, Christian Practice (regular prayer times, study & discussion, church attendance), farm work, shared meals, and interaction with a wider community. Each resident receives regular individual sessions with our certified counselor in addition to a number of weekly groups related to recovery, spiritual formation and relationships.  Featuring continuous staff coverage our residents are, from intake to a staged re-entry to the wider community, supported in their recovery journey.

Program & Schedule

The program at Hope Farm is six months long; a three month Stage One with a fixed schedule, and the opportunity to transition to Stage Two during the following 3 month, which allows the resident up to three days a week of school or off-site work. For residents who have completed Stage Two and feel the need for added time to consolidate the gains made and contribute back to the community by way of peer support, they are able to apply for Stage Three. This entails up to an additional six month period where he works or attends school while remaining engaged with the Farm community.

Social Enterprise and Buying Local

In conjunction with the recovery and restoration our residences experience, we offer opportunities for them to reintegrate back into society by participating in active agriculture in their daily activities and, in turn, participating in the selling of fresh, organic produce. We believe in the benefit of strong community ties and engagement between our residents, local farmers and the general public.

For information, email: Contact@hopefarm.ca

Farm Gate & U-Pick Sales: During operational hours in the harvest season, the public can purchase farm-fresh produce such as eggs, poultry, pork products, and fresh, organic vegetables that the residents produce.

CSA Farm Fresh Vegetable Box: After a successful pilot launched last year, we are excited to be offering a Community Supported Agriculture produce box to volunteers, staff and friends and family of The Mustard Seed Street Church. By pledging purchases of produce boxes, we connect the residents to the community, and support the local, small farm business.

Farmers Markets and in Restaurants: Another opportunity to experience our produce is to find us at the Cowichan summer farmers markets or catch a taste at participating local restaurants.
