Vancouver Island Counselling Centre for Immigrants and Refugees (VICCIR)’s principal activity is to provide mental health counselling to immigrants and refugees living on Vancouver Island.
VICCIR offers services on a sliding fee scale, based on clients’ ability to pay.
VICCIR works with specially trained interpreters as required and seeks to remove barriers to quality service and care for both individuals and families, whatever their economic or cultural context.
VICCIR counselling services are grounded on the recognition that each individual is unique, and treatment plans are tailored accordingly. Cultural norms are respected as is the value of expressing oneself in one’s own language.
If a counsellor does not speak a client’s language, one of VICCIR’s interpreters serves as a bridge, both linguistic and cultural.

The aim of the BC Refugee Hub is to be a one-stop hub for all information and resources available to better support refugees residing in BC. The BC Refugee Hub is easy to navigate and browse, filled with a variety of information on programs, services and publications related to refugees in British Columbia.

Nesting Doula Collective provides care and support to Black, Indigenous and communities of colour including immigrants and refugees, at all stages of their reproductive journey from conception to postpartum. Their approach upholds the principles of informed consent, culturally appropriate care, and community connection. They are a growing collective of Black, Indigenous, and people of colour who are trained in providing professional, empowering, and anti-oppressive Doula support to their diverse clients and families.
