Volunteer Information

Use your hands, heart, and talent to make a difference in the lives of those who need it most. The first steps of becoming a volunteer are the application form and joining us on a tour to learn where you would fit in. Please note that The Mustard Seed Street Church team is breaking our tradition of hosting two tours a month for the festive month of December. We will pick it back up in the New year, and see you then. If you are interested in volunteering for one of our Christmas Volunteer Opportunities, take a look below for more contact information!

As key members of The Mustard Seed Street Church team, our volunteers provide a wide variety of assistance both on the front line as well as in our offices and at events. Please refer to the list below for volunteer positions we have available. We require a minimum age of 16 to volunteer.

The cost of living is high in Victoria, and many people for any number of reasons might find their monthly budget stretched to the point of breaking. Each day, we receive donations of food and funds from caring citizens, concerned companies, and generous food manufacturers. These donations enable us to put food on our shelves for those in need.

Our volunteers assist staff every day to collect, receive, inspect, sort and package these items into nutritious hampers for people that need assistance.

Hospitality House is open from 8 a.m. – 4 p.m., Monday through Friday and exists to answer these questions:  Needing a haircut? New-to-you clothing or shoes? Facing a personal crisis? Want to learn how to cook? Take a fitness class? Need prayer? Lonely and want fellowship? These are the types of services we offer in our Hospitality House through the help of our volunteers.

The Mustard Seed Street Church would not function without a dedicated and talented Administration team of staff. From managing our offices to working with donors, hosting our reception window, managing volunteers and keeping our facilities clean, the staff are assisted by diligent volunteers. These roles are an integral part of how the Mustard Seed remains open and available to meet the needs of the community they serve.

At the Family Centre, we offer an empowering program of courses, workshops, and seminars designed to equip vulnerable families with necessary skills and resources. Together, we tackle issues of budgeting, literacy, parenting, and cooking. Volunteers are needed to assist staff in cooking and serving food, leading crafts and games with children and sharing fundamental life skills with grace and understanding.

Without the generous support of the local community and committed donors, the ministries at The Mustard Seed Street Church would not be possible.  In an effort to communicate our mission and spread the message of hope, we engage in the community in various special events and projects. Each one is unique and integral to staying connected with contributors and fostering partnerships with local businesses.

None of these special events are possible without the dedication and commitment of volunteers. There are so many ways to contribute and we are grateful to volunteers who know that even a small contribution of time and talent can make the world of difference.
